A surprise assignment from the Centre has Philip and Elizabeth trying to confirm the identity of a possible enemy of the state. The couple reaches a moment of profound crisis when they are divided about the results of their investigation and what to do next. Stan gives Henry a tour of the FBI for an article the boy is writing for his school’s paper, but his time in the office may be of interest – and concern – to his parents, too. Later, when Henry seems to be enamored of the Bureau, Stan shares a more personal take on the toll of working in counterintelligence. In Russia, Oleg continues to work his corruption case and scores a minor victory. Oleg gets information that hints at a larger, more systemic problem that might prove his task to be futile and, worse yet, unwise to pursue. Meanwhile, the Jenningses get news about how the fruits of a previous mission are currently being used by their superiors. Elizabeth presents Philip with an unexpected offer.
